I wish someone would make edible water. Something with the texture and crunch of an M&M, but when you bite it crisp, cold, clean water fills your mouth. Not as hard and cold as ice, no melting, no calories, no artificial flavorings, just cold water inside a crunchy shell.

Why? It was fine in the Smithsonian. Everything they are doing is at best sort sighted. And yes, this is minor compared to some things.

Buried in the sweeping legislation is an $85 million provision to move NASA's most-flown spacecraft from the national collection to Space Center Houston.

The Calvinist streak in U.S. society — in which some people are just held to be bad, and deserving of a bad fate — is at the root of so much of what’s worst about this place.
NEW in Bolts: Louisiana Republicans have passed a new law that effectively eviscerates people's ability to claim their innocence and seek relief once they've been convicted.

A massive blow to the rights of people in prison in a state that's full of wrongful convictions:

In celebration of July 4, I wanted to post the beginning of the Declaration of Independence. But the founding fathers never used one word when 28 would suffice, and Bluesky has a strict character limit. So instead I urge everyone to go read the Declaration.

Seriously?

The topic of consent is "a sensitive subject for many"? Teaching kids that they can say no, that they don't have to engage in sex acts they don't want to engage in, is a "sensitive subject"?

Indiana lawmakers remove consent requirement from sex ed bill
Sen. Gary Byrne says it should be up to school boards to decide if the concept gets taught.

This is a disturbing development. (Though, to be fair, there are at least four disturbing developments per day in this administration and it's hard to keep up. )

The unusual letter caught the attention of First Amendment groups and some scientists, who raised concerns it was designed to suppress academic and scientific freedom.

Demonstration in support of the Marion County Public Defenders union efforts.

The Marion County Public Defender Agency voted to unionize over a year ago. IBEW has been attempting to negotiate a contract for us ever since. Unfortunately talks with the City have stalled. So April 7 is a day of action in support of MCPDA.

Why is everyone so surprised about Jeff Goldberg of the Atlantic being accidentally included in the war planning group chat?

During Trump I we had:
1. Anthony Scaramucci calling The New Yorker to gossip.
2. "He just . . . Tweeted it out"
3. Rudy Gulliani butt dialing reporters all the time

Good idea or bad idea?

What if we replaced the House of Representatives with a sort of national jury? We divide each state into districts of roughly equal population and then randomly choose an adult citizen between the ages of 21-75 to serve 1 term. Pay them well. Done in 2 years.

Section 31 feels like they thought they were making a video game, filmed all the cut scenes, but forgot to hire gane developers, so they mashed all the cut scenes together and called it a movie.

Every few minutes I felt like I should have to solve a puzzle or win a race or fight a boss to advance.

Everyone always talks about the blizzard of '78. Will this be like that? 40+ years from now will we be like, "I remember the big snow of '25. Were you around for the big snow of '25?"

As of about 10 minutes ago in Indianapolis - about 3.5 inches in my front yard. The other picture is from several hours ago and the flock of starlings roosting in the neighbor's tree.
