It’s not ensured by the govt. - it’s a social contract WE agree to. Property is a relational thing that has high value. If you invest $500k into something you’re telling me you don’t care if you just lose that money? That is simply not how real estate works outside of your idealism.

Didn’t say I’m entitled. Property is relative to your neighbors. If you want to buy a home & have it be worth less, awesome. A home is most people’s most valuable asset. I don’t know people who want to lose money on it.

The problem in the US is my house’s value is directly proportional to, & impacted by, my neighbors’ properties. Hence HOAs everywhere where people mutually agree on the neighborhood & how people maintain their personal spaces.
