They've been making Player's Choice versions of their games all the way back to the SNES. Not a struggling system. But now, Sony & MS have basically ceded the platformer and family markets to Nintendo, leaving only indie PC games to compete. No reason to mark things down when you're a monopoly.

What they were always promising was to bring us back to our Isolationist days before we were a major player on the world stage. Their voters thought they meant the 1950s, their opponents thought they meant the 1850s, but they really meant the 1880s and the Gilded Age.

Was it even broadcast in high def in 2006? Not sure. Looks like there's a full version in 480p at the Internet Archive. Maybe you can pass it through an upscaler to see if you can get better quality.

I fell down a BBC Archive rabbit hole a couple of weeks ago and watched this video. I think you should do the same experiment with the poles in real time, just like this presenter.
