And the big thing at the time were conservative Christians clutching pearls because of witchcraft, so much of the conversation around the books focused on that and why witchcraft does not equal evil.

In my own life I've been looking at people and seeing that sometimes there are threads of things that were foreshadowing, but also there have been changes that are a complete 180 to who they were previously. Humans are complex and messy. It's too easy to box in anyone and say we should've known.

Yes, I was never a hater, and it makes me sad that so many people are losing such a big part of their childhood nostalgia

I never got into it, either. I was more of a Sci-fi kid than fantasy. Also, I didn't like having to wait, so I didn't get into super popular books, because I hated having to wait on the hold list at the library.

My grandma was in a Russian concentration camp during WWII. I saw her the day after the Zelenskyy visit with Trump and she was horrified. Now, I keep thinking about my great-grandpa who was imprisoned and then shot and thrown in a mass grave by the Russians. And I'm sick that America is doing this.

That would be a hilarious plot twist!

Sesame Street has disliked Trump since at least the early 90s. He's probably been waiting to get his revenge for years.

I read that as, "the audacity of the lemon," so I think I need to log off the screens for a bit 🤣

Kiddo is almost 10

Exactly. I have heard people using "but it isn't censorship when it's a private company," but this is the government stopping the communication, not the company.

Yes, part of why so many are upset is that we see the loss of TikTok is a step closer to the complete loss of democracy

Yup! Zuckerberg has admitted to selling data to Chinese companies in the past!

I'm a fellow Swiftie. And I have zero knowledge of DnD, but I want to figure it out, because my kiddo wants to play. I also have pets and like Animal Crossing. I read, but right now I'm mostly just re- reading familiar stuff. My brain is exhausted from the rest of life and needs something easy.

Yes, I think it's a power demonstration- "I have the power to take this thing you love. You should be grateful I allow you to use it."

To be fair, you also didn't think the Supreme Court would uphold the ban... 🙃
