Are the alternate opportunities blocked if one is served? I've sometimes picked one of the opportunities as 'primary' and blocked the other ones for that one cycle (if only used by transit in 1 direction) so they aren't all served in the event of transit detector failure

* if it runs more frequently than every 10 minutes

I personally find rainy winters colder than snowy winters. When it's proper cold you can bundle up and actually be warm. If it's like 4 degrees you can't bundle up properly because then you'll sweat and your sweat makes you cold.

I strongly disagree. I much prefer -2 because riding while it's snowing is infinitely more pleasant than riding in the rain.

4 degrees and raining is the worst. I literally drove to work yesterday (extremely rare) because it was 4 and raining. The drive took 2x as long as cycling and cost 200x more

They imply it's $780,000 of revenue lost, but that seems to be the revenue for the entire ads, and only a small portion of each ad is covering windows. Most of that revenue will still be maintained, with a minor reduction due to needing gaps for the windows.
November 11, 2025 at 4:02 AM
The revenue from specifically the window-covering portion of ad wraps must be minimal. I wouldn't be surprised if it's offset by improved ticket revenue. Blocking the windows with dots is insulting to riders, making the train less attractive

I don't think you need to worry. We are angry at the US government, not the Americans who come to visit us
November 10, 2025 at 5:48 PM
Tram drivers cannot issue traffic tickets, there would need to be a cop present

Lol

I literally said in my original post that I was talking about past decisions not current ones. Obviously Blatchford, 102Ave etc are great examples of TOD.

The LRT has been there since 1978 and was planned before then. Development should have been planned together.
November 10, 2025 at 12:52 AM
Edmonton had done lots of great work recently but the existing developments don't really concentrate around stations.

The LRT had good access to malls and stadiums but nearby developments have low residential or commercial density.

First you somehow need to convince Doug Ford

The US has always set the bar very low but it's insane that just having basic civil rights is now considered an accomplishment
November 9, 2025 at 6:03 PM
Camera enforcement is forbidden by the Province.
November 9, 2025 at 6:00 PM
I don't see how restricting development next to stations contributes to Alberta's housing affordability
November 9, 2025 at 5:55 PM
Travel times are important in the long term for mode shift but yes, capacity is the main issue at the moment given that line's notable shortage of it.

Which is awkward because Metrolinx wants to eliminate the high platform standard so they wouldn't want to purchase more high-floor DMUs
November 9, 2025 at 3:27 AM
Additional stops on GO trains only add 2 minutes. UPX has shorter dwells and faster acceleration than GO, so Mt Dennis should only add about 1.5 min.

My guess is the travel time had already slowed to 26 min but they didn't want to change the 25 min marketing
November 9, 2025 at 3:15 AM
I was looking at suburban developments in Edmonton recently and was shocked by how little they concentrate around existing or planned LRT stations.

TBF we've seen similar missed opportunities in Ontario (e.g. Unionville station)
November 9, 2025 at 2:34 AM
They already did that. This driver is disobeying the No Left Turn sign
November 8, 2025 at 8:09 PM
A paradise by US standards, Average for a Canadian city,
Terrible by EU standards
November 8, 2025 at 8:08 PM
Left turns are prohibited at that intersection during the day, specifically to avoid this situation. That driver is breaking the law.
November 8, 2025 at 8:07 PM
Let's wait for them to finish installing it before we pass judgement
November 8, 2025 at 5:50 AM
They have horns on both the front and back as well as bells
