*This* might seem like a contradiction to the OP - it's not. What is does is clarify the other side of the equation: one should try to be open to new relationships, but one must *also* be aware of the limits of one's time, energy, and spirit.

Be brave and be bold, but do so with empathy and an awareness of consent - and a mind open to the possibility that a 'failed romantic approach' doesn't need to cost the friendship as well.

The two primary components of any quality relationship are Time and Receptiveness/Willingness, and Capitalism has stolen the first from us, and our Fear of Being Truly Known has stolen the other.
