All his ECM albums are excellent, with the likes of Barre Phillips and Mat Maneri chipping in occasionally. ECM at its best.

Oh yeah, I was definitely in a minority with the Talk Talk appreciation. And I didn't like their then-current recordings when I subsequently checked them out. I can't remember the order of things, so sure you are right, though it does seem surprising. In retrospect, John Martyn was undervalued.

What made that day was how excited everyone - including the band - seemed to be that it was happening at all (+ it was a good show).

... The same year, I got to see some other big dogs (The Who; those Rolling Stones) and the last outing of the classic Motörhead. That's enough nostalgia for today.
