I think manufacturing is a hard life. Two young men (one with a Honda logo on his shirt) were standing by the hotel elevator. I noticed they hadn't hit the button. I gently quipped 'it's early' and hit the button. They thanked me and said they were on second shift & it messed with their sleep.

I need to noodle more, but it definitely has the feel that the issues they care about had energy, but not Trump. I asked one guy who was about to bike the Canal feeder trail if he was a local & what he liked about Sidney. (He was & had just retired from Honda). Strong work ethic & family values

Also, the demographics skew: young (high 30-low 40#/s) & very white, high high school graduation rate but on the low side for bachelor or higher degree. Lots of small to larger manufacturing companies in the area (including Honda) and healthcare.

I just got back from a weekend in Sidney/Troy/Celina (OH) area. The small towns around that area have banners with veterans. Their town squares have at least one store front with vet related services (also many shuttered store fronts & anti-abortion activists). I did not see one Trump flag, however

Really? While I don't disagree, it's going a bit longer than I anticipated. (However, Charlie Kirk has fallen in line after a call from Trump, soooo that brings the MAGA bros back).
