well, he simply spoke truth. Trump and the rich don't want educated people because educated people are critical thinkers and that's a big no no when they want to control people. they've already terminated so much research, science, and education.

the LA Times is not the only source of news and most definitely not the most reliable news, sorry to say. And what the Trump admin has done is insane with no regards to science, agriculture, and water management.
