I use Mint (gaming is easy and I am lazy) and I use Libre and Only Office. Only is better for Microslop cooperation (I would say), but Libre gives me more freedom. I recommend to test all apps on some docs and see 😉

Switched to Linux Mint half year ago. Good for Windows users, its my gaming desktop and Proton+Steam = no problem. Also this distribution comes from Ubuntu, so at least something you alreadyknow. Just I don't have any experience with gamedev, cannot help here.
