I agree. I notice people (the ones I mostly agree with on policies & values) getting grumpy if someone is appreciated like this. As if they assume they themselves are never compromised or they assume humans are usually good? Obv they aren't! And the right thing often isnt easy! Same story w/L Cheney

Thx for the warning. I may b Pollyanna but I keep thinking she's genuinely in the arc of a politics-gullible yet brave true believer. Her flaws, incl racismz had her believe & fight for misinfo. Makes sense she hit disillusionment. I do NOT mean she's a big hero now. MAGA-infected but not lost cause

ABSOLUTELY!! I believed the reasons for it before but now that I work in a small clinic I much more see how exasperating, wasteful, & almost abusive, the complicated profit-motivated system is. It leaves docs, patients, office staff & more, worn out. Only a niche few know how to win in that system

And where did they get those hats in the photo! Like cowboy but floppier. Good coverage.

Seems likely that's part of it. I can believe she has some impressive qualities (some of which led to her rise from nowhere), but they did no good when she was emotionally & conceptually hooked by wild maga stuff. It's not that unusual for humans, inexperienced politicians, to get jaded, or mature

On The View she said she was a victim of "media lies &... social media" such as QAnon. I figure this is what her intensity, courage & stubborness looks like when it starts seeing thru & questioning loony narratives & fakers. She seems more true-believer than her colleagues. Actually cares bout kids.

Good news! This race wasn't on my radar but I've been happy to see Krasner's successes. I always remembered the name from when he was a pro bono lawyer for the, what did we call it, RNC435 arrested in Philly protests, August 2000

Other mentioning Qobuz. Me too: Ive been meaning to try it more ever since I used it for a cpl songs I needed to "own" not just stream. It had a bigger catalog than I expected, pretty much all I wanted. Seems to do what Spotify does plus more (well, probly less annoying AI and 'for you' clutter)

I've seen these posts and don't get why it's apparently yr 1 thing worth repeating every day. What's the rationale for making this priority, when so MANY manifestations of MAGA r ugly, and affect more people? Is there a reason for wasteful demolition AGAIN other than petty or just matters of taste?

I can imagine many ppl livin that life have some admirable qualities & skills, but I don't get the rely-on-guns & bugout-bag strategy. Like, maybe plug into community & civics a lil, to help shape things BEFORE it comes down to guns? But no, that takes hard work & patience; gun fantasies r more fun?

And I don't know a lotta ins and outs of military but I don't think generals are on the literal front lines at that stage... I would think many have been thru some deployments and have earned the prestige to say f u pretty boy, I got a right to a beer belly now!

Your assessment is that anti-MAGA protestors aren't voting? Isn't it evident that the opposite is much more common? (Despite a handful of, say, anarchists who protest but on principle dont vote.) Just looking at numbers, many more people VOTE against MAGA candidates than make calls or street-protest

Double standards are annoying, but also, I doubt "No Kings" as a movement opposes Democratic candidates. Wouldn't roughly half the mvmt see that as shooting ourselves in the foot, since all Dems share the big-tent No Kings views? It IS different than what Tea Party position was towards other parties

Yeah but, respect: just think if all you needed to eat (or is it for reproducing?) was a DROP of blood from a massive creature, minimal damage... compared to how many insects crushed just to grow & harvest to feed even a vegan human

Good one

Gosh so many cynical replies. Isn't it all more complicated than a hot-take? We're talking about humans. And don't we all have admirable people we sincerely looked up to, who then turned weird/wrong? The reverse can happen too right? Conversion isn't soley Biblical. And it's not tidy nor a fix-all

Huh, she more struck me as a true believer. Like someone who is all-in for a religion that turns out cult-y, yet they did have misplaced values in play, truly working for something bigger than self. But sure, most of us are frequently selfish& ignorant if we peel away the other layers of motivation
October 11, 2025 at 7:53 PM
Huh people have different takes; mine is that the same MTG personality that's been intense when she's wrong, drawn to conspiratorial stuff, is the same source of courage & authenticity as she keeps learning, seeing hypocrisy in her own crowd. E.g. she was always against child abuse; just misinformed

Clear words and fabulous resolve. Thanks for your work. Maybe we will keep seeing lots more of you-- in a good way, soon!
