wrote it in a note bc it got too long for a skeet, but I've been thinking about my grandad a lot lately and this made me remember one of my favorite later memories 🩷

he was ALWAYS accepting and loving towards anyone of any sexuality or gender
I was never able to tell my grandad about being nonbinary before he passed away. he suffered from multiple strokes during his life and by the time I figured out my gender situation, he was suffering from dementia. however, before it got that bad, I was engaged to someone who was also nonbinary. they also happened to be Muslim (important to the story). I managed to explain to my grandparents what being nonbinary means in the simplest of words so that he would understand it, but other than a few affirmative words, he didn't react to it. I knew he was okay with it, because that's just the type of man he was. that was it. we had no other conversations about the topic. but then, a few months later, my mom was visiting him. my grandmother happened to be out, so it was just the two of them. and all of a sudden he started talking about this documentary he caught on tv, about a trans Muslim man. the man told about his transition, how he spent his days, and the issues he came up against with his family. and after my grandad told this to my mom, he got really quiet. and then he said: "it all must be so hard for him". and that was once again the end of the conversation. I immediately started crying when my mom told me about it when she got home. he was the kindest man you could ever meet, but he wasn't the best at explaining his thoughts or expressing his feelings in words due to all the brain damage. but he remembered what I had told him about my partner. and he remembered that it was important, so when he came across that documentary, he made the connection in that beautiful head of his and took it upon himself to watch it so he could understand my partner better. when he died, I wrote him a letter, thanking him for what he did then and telling him that I'm nonbinary as well. I put it next to him in his coffin and he got cremated with it.

I ordered something online and when I filled in the address form I selected "other" when they asked for my gender marker.

so now I got the email with the tracking information and. it's incredible. forget about Ms or Mr. or even Mx. from now on I am
address label for delivery. last name and actual address are censored since I'm not willing to doxx myself lol. since I'm nonbinary I didn't select a gender marker while filling in the address form, so instead of ms. or mr., they've addressed me as Unspecified Gwendolyn.

the museum might've sucked, but this dress at the wedding fashion exhibition I went to made me feel so emotional
picture of a relatively simple yet elegant black dress on a white mannequin. it is a mid length black dress with long understated puff sleeves. the waist is fitted and has a row of black buttons down the front. the fabric on the bust is gathered and the neckline has a deep vee, but there's an inserted piece of matching fabric that gives it the illusion of a double layer to add some modesty. the mannequin is also wearing black leather (?) gloves. picture of the text on the plaque that came with the dress. it is written both in Dutch and English. I will first transcribe the English text, then add the Dutch, since most people here don't speak Dutch. titel: LOVE IN TIMES OF NEED Ans Manoth wore this black wedding gown when she married Klaas Zurcher during World War 2 on 12 September 1944. Klaas was a teacher by profession. Ans worked in an office. During the hunger winter, hardly anything was available, so Ans made the dress from lining fabric she took from coats. so at the mall we went to today, they had this neon light display of small angel wings that people can stand in front of to take pictures. you know how that shit works.

however.

I immediately started laughing and crowed at my mom "LET ME GET IN FRONT OF IT. I'LL HAVE WINGS COMING OUT OF MY HEAD."
