Yes! Some of the Coihue (N. dombeyi) trees were covered in tiny, white leaf spots. Would love to learn what this is, and what effect it has on broadleaf evergreen trees that keep their leaves through the winter...

I got to visit Argentina for the first time, and saw my first Nothofagus forests! This forest in Nahuel Huapi National Park is dominated by the broadleaf-evergreen Coihue trees (Nothofagus dombeyi), which have much smaller leaves than I expected.

Last week got to see pine processionary moth caterpillars (Thaumetopoea pityocampa) for the first time! They were walking head to tail in procession near Cassis, France, and nesting in Aleppo pine trees near Fontvielle. Unexpected find while visiting friends.
