If you're ever in a scrape, I'll never be far away." He sung with a wink. "Though I have to admit, it is a little fun to watch you struggle." Konh'a took a deep breath, chest feeling like it might explode. "Always one to pour salt in the wound." He spat. "I don't need your damn help!" "Oh? Like you can handle this on your own." Nhaza'a rolled his eyes. "All your friends are as good as dead, Moonbeam! I've been there- I know it hurts. Let me help you." Twelve above, he forgot how annoying he was. "Why are you even here, you asshole? Just to spite me?" "Hmm?" Nhaza'a rolled onto his stomach, like a teenage girl telling gossip. "Oh, no, no! Well-partially. My dear, who do you think drugged these six adventurers and brought them here?" Shock spread through his body, eye dilating until there was only a sliver of blue. All of the fear stewing within Konh'a up until now rapidly evolved into fury. He threw his blades to the floor in blind rage, opting for his extended claws. "Nhaza'a! Either leave, or get down here and fight me! I'm done with your bullshit!" "It's cute how much you want to fuck me." Nhaza'a chuckled. "If you want me though, you'll have to come get me." He smirked. A voice told them to stand up. To put on a brave face. You are the Warrior of Light. You have seen death before, even of those close to you. Noraxia, Moenbryda, Tha-... they couldn't even fully think of his name without needing to puke. They still ached in their chest for all of them, never given the time needed to fully heal from any of it. Yet there they were. The same instance repeated again and again. Of the man they loved dying in front of their eyes. Of her being the harbinger of death and misery. They couldn't take it anymore. And they screamed. They screamed so loud, louder than any noise they had made before, louder than the toll of the church bell, louder than the roar of Nidhogg. And it only carried with it sorrow, blanketing the area in silent mourning. Those around her winced at the noise, tearing their eyes away from the gruesome sight. Her throat hurt. Her chest hurt. Her eyes hurt. Everything hurt. It should have been her. They curled into a ball, resting their head on his still chest. Every single time. It should have been her. Their hands tightened into fists, hot tears continuing to stream down their cheeks. Why wasn't it ever her? First chapter (Thancred w/ Lunowli) He was awake, but he didn't want to be. Not just yet. Instead, he kept his eyes closed, relying on his other senses. The subtle sway of the boat, the quiet waves crashing against the sides. The piercing cry of birds, seagulls following them out to the open sea. A whiff of ale, more than likely coming from his own breath. He didn't actually drink much last night, but the scent always stubbornly stuck to him. He shifted a bit, feeling the small warm body under his arm. Remembering who it was, he suddenly had the motivation to force open his tired eyes. Last chapter (Roone w/ Urianger) He was awake, but he didn't want to be. Not just yet. He buried deeper into the man still asleep beside him, the matcha scent from his tea last night still subtly clinging to his clothes. His hands slowly glided over the silhouette, still hesitant about exploring his partner's body in such a way, letting them rest over his chest. He could feel the steady heartbeat under his palms, the rise and fall of his breast with each breath. He hated how easily Urianger could tear down all his walls like this. He took in a shaky breath and looked over at his husband. His bright golden eyes shone in the dim room, worry laced with the slightest disappointment. Perhaps that wasn't the word- heartache, more like. His silver hair was still slightly mussed, a rarity to see every strand not in place. He had pulled on his robes as well, yet hadn't bothered to tie it closed, revealing just a sliver of his breast still clad in black lace. His lips were pursed into a frown despite still being pink from kisses. Roone just wanted one day with him. 24 bells with his husband. Was that too much to ask for? Was it too selfish to ask for, knowing how much his friend has been hurting? Was it insane to ask- to beg, to plead, for a baby, despite the circumstances of the star and their lives? Perhaps Nymeia kept throwing these obstacles at them so Urianger would never carry a child. If this was all so selfish, what kind of parents could they ever be? Perhaps he was damned to become his mother, no matter how hard he tried. "Roone." He gasped, focusing back on Urianger, now blurry through a veil of tears. He blinked them back, refusing to give in right now. "We can try to conceive at any time. Right now, a dear friend is in need of succor. Thou art not at fault for carrying the burden of a kind heart." Urianger picked up Konh'a's soiled clothes. "Allow me to share in thy burden, I prithee. I shall acquire garments and prepare the sleeping arrangements."
