The oldest stone tools ever found date to 3.3 million years ago. Predating the genus Homo, they were likely made by Australopithecus afarensis or Kenyanthropus platyops.

This means that humans were not the first animals to make these kinds of tools. I find this both fascinating and humbling.

With its deep green velvety leaves the Anthurium forgetii is one of my favourite anthurium species. I find mine to be quite easy care. This is its newest leaf (the camera doesn't quite do it justice).

Due to its dark velvety leaves with pronounced mint green venation the Anthurium crystallinum is a popular species among plant people. I bought a small plant about a year ago and it's been sizing up nicely.

Orbea semota var. lutea is a small succulent native to Kenya.
This species is pollinated by flies so its beautiful flowers have a delicate scent of... rotting flesh. However the smell is quite mild.
