I’ve come across stuff like this as well with my work and I agree with everything you’ve said here. I also think that it’s okay for characters to have “problematic”views of themselves and others. I think a lot of us have them in the real world, too. It’s human and natural, and I like to write that.

It’s not as if I can’t, but they always end up getting kind of sentimental or a little fucked up, in the end. Oops.
