I have snagged the 2024, 2023, and 2022 collections. May is Short Story Month - holler if you're interested in reading (or re-reading for you) the 2024 collection with me!

Also, I am a big holiday music fan. If you have Spotify, enjoy 20 years of playlist making! open.spotify.com/playlist/0pk...

I definitely think it was contemporary and just that their son was going down a rabbit hole of 60s thinkers that were pushing the limits and testing systems.

The timeline was kind of wonky…

I also loved this passage…

“Pete is snoring, and each time his lips pillow outward on the exhale she contemplates pouring her bedside glass of water on his face.” HA!

So good! I want to know how it works out. But we never have that luxury in real life.

When I read his bio before reading the story, I was a bit on edge as I am not a sci-fi fan. Got really scared when he was talking to the 911 operator and was so glad it ended as it did.

That’s awesome! I know Jason @mrmuleman.bsky.social through our city’s indie bookstore’s community book club and he brought me into this cool community. ♥️

This is my first year doing it and I’m really impressed with the stories!

I think you’re right. And a re-read may give me another look at Miguel and Cooper’s interactions. I might do that at the end of the project.

Totally agree.

Just like the guys at the beginning trying to push her out. They were villainous. The others were, as you said, flawed. I kinda got bully vibes from Miguel toward Cooper. Or at least some antagonism. They all experienced pain and loss, just as we all have.

I think this is my favorite so far. His dialogue and family dynamics felt so authentic.
