PS3 and 360 are, on the whole, not retro but there are some things about them that could fall into classification. Could go on and on about this so I'll nip in the bud here though.

Yeah, that's like the main reason I'd have billed Wii retro already. But on top of that, it was built on gen 6 spec and its style of games feel like the belong to a specific time in history. Even the way Nintendo marketed it was kind of a throw back to the Atari's family living room appeal.

The term retro, for me at least, refers more to tech, design trends, and general availability/circulation than anything. I know people are arguing if Wii is retro at 19 years old now. To me, it was retro a lot sooner then that.

I think people are confusing the nostalgia rule. Nostalgia is for 20 years ago. I guess that's an safe metric for what qualifies for 'retro' but definitely lacks nuance. Eras along with defined generations isn't a bad idea, though this probably appeal more for history dorks like myself.
