When I'm in bed, the dog likes to lie near the Atlas, the top bone in my cervical spine, also called C1. I don't much care for it, so I order her farther down the bed, which she accedes to, but not happily.

I recently refilled the upside-down bird feeder with suet after a long period of neglect. The Downy woodpecker has yet to discover the new supply. In the past, the Downy checked the feeder often, but finding it empty, he apparently adopted a “fool me once” philosophy.
