There was one near where I grew up. Built in the 60’s, but still standing with a family living in it. One of the neighbors told them the origin story of the house to the newest owners.

The current problem is the tech is very advanced and the sailors don’t have the know how to troubleshoot issues. The software is a nightmare. And parts are hard to get and the navy has only recently gone back to bench repairs.

The LCS program was failure in the aspect of reduced crew sizes.
Lasers have been used on ships for a few years. The question is can they deploy them with out contractors as full time staff.

The one detail I want to know is manning req’s.
I would imagine it will 500+. Lots of training needed.
With the lasers lots of new training will be needed for tactics and repairs.

The design has two 5” turrets and the railgun, plus 4 laser systems. And a VLS for hypersonics

Further R&D to continue the project to correct issues like all new weapons tech have to work through.
To continue it was pointless since there was no platform planned that could fit it.
Again…we won’t see this platform. Double 5”?

I will believe that this ship class exists when they float the hull for the first time.

I prefer being able to work in my front lawn without having to worry about some guy charging at me with a bastard sword yelling about the time my trees dropped leaves on his side of the fence.

I was given a very nice custom pelican case on a testing event. They were going to throw them out and I still paid for the damn thing inline with the policy in place for the place I was supporting.
