It’s been a kick to work on media for this album with Andrew Whiteman and Anne Waldman. Check it out! 🖤
Happy release date to Your Devotee in Rags—a metamorphic sonic poetry LP created by cultural icons, Anne Waldman (The Iovis Trilogy: Colors in the Mechanism of Concealment) and Andrew Whiteman (Broken Social Scene), released by Siren Recordings.

Reading Books and Islands in Ojibwe Country was like going on a road trip with Louise Erdrich and her toddler, visiting lakes and discussing books. Our, I mean her travels eventually lead to an island whose cabins are filled with 1000s of rare books. It was quite a road trip.

The ingredients for my perfect comfort read can all be found in Joanne Jackson’s Sunset Lake Resort:
•Well written
•A middle aged woman who sets out on a journey of discovery
•A generational mystery
•A supernatural element that is more soul-searching than it is creepy.

As part of my poet laureateship—and as a personal challenge to myself—I’ve written a blog on how to write a love poem, just in time for a little Valentine’s Day wooing:

I’ve fallen in love with the short story. This collection of interconnected short stories from Sidik Fofana is full of heartbreak and injustice and also joy and endurance.

Read “Mickey’s Bar” this morning from Francine Cunningham’s collection God Isn’t Here Today. Flipping amazing story that will never leave me. Normally I would then pick up my current NF but I can’t. That story needs time in my brain by itself for a while.
