Maybe play on their status as a scrivener? See if anything fun pops in Google Translate. E.g., scribe in Welsh is sgrifenydd -> hmm, kinda sounds like Griffin/Griffith -> add/switch a letter a la Waddams -> Skriffin/Skriffith? 🤷‍♀️ Makes me realize I’ve not surnamed any side characters in my fic!
