Life as a hobby and fandom as a calling. Also me in other places, tumblr under protest at punkrockhester.
So this didn't age well.

I have to say, in an era of evil billionaires and milqtoast governors, in Illinois we caught a lucky bounce with Pritzker. I don't know if he's actually a good guy or just angry at the other rich assholes for making him look bad, but it's working so far.

Watched the trailer. I did not need this kind of personal attack on a Thursday night, dammit.

Then again, I'm 100% less likely to trip in front of anyone featured in Murderbot while attending a conference on cybersecurity and modern warfare.

You can totally do this! But you have to commit and do it with the arrogance of a middle-aged white dude, because the beepity boop sensors can smell fear.

*raises two hands* Perhaps I can interest you in the reincarnation saga of Matt Flannery and Chariie Crews, who weren't just in different shows, but in shows on entirely different networks. FRTDNEATJ, we called their ship Pants.

Conclusion: I will let you borrow my copy of the graphic novel because it's excellent but be warned it has koolaid stains on a few pages, and you should watch the 1994 film, which has a kickass soundtrack, but do not watch the 2024 film sober. The End.

Also. ALSO. (I'm sorry, I have Thoughts on this) The 2024 one should not have been made, it doesn't fix any of the problems with the original, AND there are a few random moments that are so, so well done. But they are surrounded by explano-bro crap and CGI and it's Very Upsetting To Me.

The 2024 one is backstory fanfic. But, like. Wattpad fanfic from a random high schooler, not AO3 from somebody you've followed through six other fandoms.

Honestly, I don't know? It's so fundamental to me (comic when I was in middle school, then the Brandon Lee film when I was in high school) that I can't imagine it not being everyone's thing? (That said, I haaated the 2024 remake because it missed the entire point of the comic and also was not good.)

I...I feel like I should have thoughts on this because The Crow is one of my fundamental identity texts, but my brain is just stuck on the possibility of a universe where James O'Barr had a very different life.

The ghost of Maria Montessori would like a polite word with them.

What, these assholes have a problem with peace and conflict resolution now? (Also, that is a building that is locked down for obvious reasons, I hope the traitor tots had to stand there on the sidewalk for a while as people in suits with actual work to do disdainfully shouldered past.)
