As a massive who fan I really struggle with most of the pre-2005 show. Not just the casual bigotry of Britain in the 60s, 70s, 80s… the pacing is so bloody slow. They would stretch out a 2 hour story to 4 by having them wander about for half of it.
My ADHD brain can’t handle 😂

It’s a tough question and there is something in just starting at the beginning and watching the show evolve.
However, series 7 is particularly funny and has James Acaster getting very angry which is always a joy.
Also, series 18 with Rosie Jones is fabulous.
