So while media avoid calling Palestinian refugees as such, and with talk of mass deportation of refugees, we see this over stretching of the word in other contexts that contributes to eroding its meaning. No those who left twitter are not refugees.. neither are Americans moving to Madrid 🤦🏻

Pics of scantily clothed Bashar Al-Assad are going viral on Syrian social media. Whether authentic or not, the point is that he is subjected to a public stripping of authority (& masculinity). Similar to the fairytale on the emperor's clothes, he lost his clothes as he lost power.

Disturbing that Saidnaya was also a party town. Families used to go dance, eat & drink in dozens of restaurants and clubs near this torture centre. This encapsulates what the fallen regime represents, how it hid its extreme brutality in plain sight and implicated Syrians in it.

The liberation of the women/children section of Sednaya prison. Cut off from the world, they’ve no idea what’s happened.

A man shouts: “You are all free now. Don’t be scared. Go home.”

“What happened?” a woman asks

“The Regime fell. You are free.”
