I am Olympe de Gouges: playwright, mother, and daughter of liberty.
We demand the Declaration of the Rights of Woman. Equal rights in marriage, education, citizenship are demanded. Slavery? Poverty? we will fight!
Women are oppressed publicly, they must also speak publicly.

The fact that we are still so close-minded in todays society is incredibly concerning...

My big play?
Zamore et Mirza (aka L’Esclavage des Noirs) is my new anti-slavery drama hit that finally will be seen in French Comédie after years of pushbacks! A female writer, scandal right? Love, fights, freedom wins. Theatres crave drama and I bring it! I give the real kind.

Hi, Olympe de Gouse here again!
I’m a playwright who loves turning everyday drama into theatre plays. When I’m not writing, I’m at the theatre, debating ideas with anyone who will listen or people‑watching in cafes.

Today I overheard my neighbors fighting, it's time for me to start writing again...

Living in the Ancien Régime is unfair. The king has all the power, nobles have privileges, and women like me have no rights or voice. I believe women deserve equality; Change is needed. But I'm Thankful to king Louis XVI for the free press andletting me expressing my freedom of speech!

No person is truly free, while half is kept chained down from laws. You demand representation, then demand it for all. Not just more rights for men alone, and duties for women alone. We must be heard in every land and home:

No obligation without representation. No rights without women!
