Haters are now being hoisted on their own Bedard petard.

Perfetti Toews era starts tonight (I'll manage my expectations for a few weeks)

I looked at it yesterday - the grey map is the boundary map from the city site, darker grey being within limits. data.winnipeg.ca/City-Plannin...

It looks like they're within city limits.

And Canada. Are other provinces at the same crossroads?
November 8, 2025 at 5:57 PM
Just circling back to my original point that these places are employment opportunities, but only for those with vehicles (or those willing and safely able to invest an hour + of walking).

Agreed, the central location is a loss. The customer base was so diverse - it was the West End/North End go-to.
November 8, 2025 at 4:58 PM
It will be a matter of how long the wait is. Hockey For All Centre, Red River Ex etc. are functionally inaccessible without a vehicle. I just wish public transportation would be hard wired in the front end of these developments so employees and consumers without vehicles would have access.

For sure. They’re an interesting company - they get quite a few things right. Has anyone asked? I saw an anecdotal example via Reddit where someone approached to ask for more/better lockable bike parking, and the store was very responsive. E-bikes aren’t going away either.

That would be a bummer.

Costco did?
November 8, 2025 at 4:28 PM
For sure! The rest of my thread focuses on accessibility for potential employees, but IMO it’s a big loss for central Winnipeg to lose a Costco that was also accessible via Transit. I know there will be the business centre, but it doesn’t look like it’s going to serve the typical consumer as well.

(Or inside looking out, if you prefer)

2/2 If we want an accessible city, emerging power centres have to be accessible via public transit. If there’s no public transit service, there’s a big swath of talent (potential employees with developmental disabilities, most of whom would be commuting via public transit) on the outside looking in.

Tongue was firmly in cheek (and making the same point). Best fit would be a John K Samson card.
