A civil engineer that likes to travel and has train door closing videos. I also sing in virtual choirs.
After 12 hours 9 minutes I complete the heavy rail commuter rail journey from Atlantic City, NJ to Springfield, MA. It could have been done 90 minutes quicker. Is this practical? Not at all. Driving would have been about 6.5 to 7 hours with the horrible CT traffic.

I've boarded the seventh and last train on this trek. CT Rail service from New Haven, CT to Springfield, MA.

On board train six. A Metro-North train to New Haven, CT from Grand Central. This is agency number 4 as I enter State number 4. This train is filling up so I guess a lot of people are taking a half day off work.

Leg 5 is LIRR again for Jamaica to Grand Central. I wish I was in the country of Jamaica as it's cold outside here in NYC.

Leg 4 complete. LIRR from NY Penn to Jamaica. This is in keep with the heavy rail/commuter rail theme of this trip.

There is also a gap in conmuter service between northeast CT and Providence.

Luckily my SEPTA train arrived at Trenton across the platform for my NJ Transit train to New York Penn Station for leg number seven.

Can't take commuter rail to Maine. Only Amtrak does that by rail.

First leg was Atlantic City to Philadelphia on NJ Transit. Now on a delayed SEPTA train to Trenton.

This trip will be 7 trains with 5 agencies but I had looked a Montauk as a possibility. That's probably the longest commuter line.

Long gone are the days when doing trips like this didn't feel so grinding.
