Just a small follow up. A similar thing seems to have happened in a list of names in BnF, MS Lat. 2291, fol. 1v:
"Deodato" corrected to "Deodati".
I just thought of this conversation when I saw it.

Yeah, it doesn't really look like a ligature, and even if it was it would be very non-standard.

I don't have deBruyne at hand, but does he indicate if he has used this manuscript for his edition?
