Yes. I will literally put my hand out to stop cars turning when I’m crossing side roads - pedestrian priority per 2022 revision to Highway Code.

My point is that the new buildings on Hills Road are better than their predecessors. This is not evidently the case for the new Kett House and hopefully the planning process will result in an improved outcome there.

This is not great, but I do disagree in respect of other buildings on Hills Road.

Botanic House is award winning and the wider scheme around it looks like it will be excellent when built. (makes Kett House plans look more disappointing in context)

I take the point, but the background to the report being uploaded early was real amateur hour stuff - seems like there were no controls at all (most orgs would read it and laugh - “that’s not us!”).

My guess would be that most people signing up for YP are pretty well-versed in this type of thing. A surprise to nobody 😀

Can’t believe you didn’t use “Psalms are sweaty…”

Me too. He’s so dull.

I wonder if his return to the back benches might encourage more independent thought?

Not a customer but their Facebook page had an update 10 weeks ago that didn’t look good. Timing of the GoFundMe looks questionable also. ‘Permanently buggered’ looks about right.

Totally get that (what happened to R Taylor?).

Not even sure what I’m suggesting here, other than to hang in there and pick your battles.
November 5, 2025 at 10:27 PM
… I know that’s not the right answer by the way! I just think there might be a more positive outlet for your energies somewhere else.
November 5, 2025 at 10:08 PM
I’m not a big fan of that. Particularly in the context of Botanic House. I do wonder whether you might be better served by engaging less on Cambridge planning. I’m certain it’s not good for your health. I pay less attention to it than you, even though it’s part of my job to know what’s going on.

“Kind of” is doing a lot of heavy lifting here! 🙂

I sort of nodded at a few things (measurable, sensible, reflecting a particular ideology but fine), disagreed strongly with a couple too. Then got to the blanket “cut civil service by 25%”. That’s where it really loses credibility. Just not serious people.

Sure. Considerably cheaper than day ticket prices if you get regular use out of it though (and a fair argument that Kings is a bit of a special case in terms what that access gets you).
October 22, 2025 at 2:06 PM
Kings have a card (accepted at some other colleges too). Some just need a proof of address. www.kings.cam.ac.uk/local-reside...

Local residents get plenty of free access to college grounds. Nominal fee for a card or otherwise just provide proof of address. Some restrictions during events and exam season which is fair enough I reckon.

Ha! I did exactly the same time today - my quickest for 15 years! 🥳

Looks pretty familiar to me- has been my experience of the last 24 years. Great quality of life here. Very easy to cycle around, great schools, etc, etc.

@emilyoram.bsky.social not quite October, but I’ll take it ☺️
September 8, 2025 at 10:39 PM
I don’t know if unique to this season but feels like there are so many viable candidates. I’m going for Nuno and end of October.

Not noticed anything in West Chesterton or Midsummer Common/Jesus Green (daily dog walks/runs).

Delighted to have got Paul McGregor and Ruud Gullit (before the clue!)
