This bust of Friedrich von Schiller sure reminds me of Henry Cavill in The Witcher.

To Stuttgart to visit one of my favourite German cities. That it was such a gorgeous autumnal day added to my delight. It was sad to see they’re dismantling the Riesenrad though.

We went for a long Sunday afternoon walk around a beautiful, autumnal Westpark in Munich. I‘ve never seen so many people: hundreds of families and couples of every age, enjoying the sun and the spectacular colours of the season.

Enjoying summer for as long as it lasts!

This seems to be Potentilla fruticosa but I’m not certain. It’s gorgeous though, right?

I walked up the Bergstrasse from Hart at 660m to this view over Fügen and Zillertal, over 900m up. The climb was fine but my calves are now complaining about the descent. 😀

We’re blessed with pleasant weather in Tirol, at last. This is the Zillertal looking down from Hart.

I love this image and think about it each time I visit the Bauhaus.

At the Deutsch-Französisches Freundschaftsfest in Pullach and those clouds look pretty ominous. The wind is picking up already. 😕

You might think a company providing bathrooms would keep their vans clean. This one was post-apocalyptically filthy.

A marvellous evening spent with friends at the Biergarten Mühlenpark in Garching. Staple food (Currywurst & Pommes), but what a great, secluded spot to while away an early summer night in conversation.

It’s so nice to be back on the campus at Garching Forschungszentrum, especially with views like this and on such a stunning morning.

Introducing the naughtier of our two cats: Miró. He’s adorable to look at and is very affectionate, but he’s a mischief maker! I hope you had a lovely Catterday.

So, time to bid goodbye to my beloved Bauhaus and to Sachsen-Anhalt for another year. I’ve enjoyed two weeks of city visits, long walks, fine food, fascinating reading, and quiet contemplation. Time to return to Munich with my batteries fully charged and something of a renewed work ethic.

A very pleasant train ride to Leipzig today. The Hauptbahnhof was incredible, and the city far bigger than I’d anticipated. Unfortunately, all the art galleries were closed, but the visit was well worth it.

My son sent me a photo he took this morning of a landscape in Scotland and I replied with a shot I’d taken an hour before in Germany. The similarity is uncanny. I wonder if we’re genetically predisposed to particular views.

I walked up to the Kornhaus in Dessau again - my third visit in as many years. Sat on the terrace overlooking the Elbe, even on a breezy, cloudy day like today, is rather special. A creature of habit, I always have a peppermint tea here before walking back into town.
