So, so proud of my students in all three of my classes this semester for the post-election discussions we had about it, the observations they made, and the questions they asked. Wednesday was a great teaching day.

bought myself a nice new notebook and nice new binder and nice new pens for the class im taking this semester but now im under doctor's orders to limit the weight of my backpack as much as possible so i cant even use them/am bringing digital copies to class :(

this is my fourth year at my job which means some of the students i taught in first year writing in my first semester are graduating this year and i just 😭 🥰 am so proud of them

today i learned i have an expanded health benefit through my union for out of network costs not covered by insurance that i havent been using for the last 3 years, because i didnt know about it, which would have saved me thousands of dollars in medical bills 🙃

#TeamRhetoric, I'm enrolling in a graduate certificate in LGBTQ+ studies -- on my CV, do I put this before my PhD (since it's more recent) or after, since the PhD is more important and, in my case, the certificate is kinda an extension of my PhD (same school + they're giving me transfer credit)

My Twitter feed has been increasingly showing me right wingers complaining about Starbucks strikes like “Your boss has the right to tell you what to do lol” and NO actually the boss doesn’t have the right to make changes to working conditions without negotiating with the union!!!

One of my students told me that rather than the melting pot or salad bowl analogies for living in a diverse society, his grandma likes “chicken soup” — in chicken soup, all of the components remain separate/distinct, but they also take on flavors from the other components

Yesterday was my 13 year anniversary of coming out to someone for the first time ☺️ NC was passing an anti-marriage equality constitutional amendment and I was 16 and had only just realized I might want to get gay married someday two weeks prior and I felt like I needed support in that moment
