This is SO IMPORTANT. People act like politics is a game of winning and losing, but it’s a game of margins. We HAVE to celebrate margin gains. I would not do what I am doing otherwise.
Because we've carefully collected data since forever, we're able to assemble this chart showing every D vs. R House special election compared to the most recent prior presidential election since Trump first won office.

Last night's race in #FL01 saw the biggest Dem overperformance in 35 races.

I’m a Dem leader in a very red part of the PA State Senate District 36, which flipped blue last night! I want to discuss some lessons we can take from this amazing victory. 1/11

I’ve noticed the glorification of extreme introversion on social media for quite awhile now, and it has been exacerbated by Covid. Here’s why I think this glorification is contributing to our current political moment. 1/9

If you’ve followed me since I started this account last week, you’ll notice I have a lot of opinions about the Harris campaign. This is because I serve as a Dem leader in my PA community, and I was on the frontlines this election season. I want to dissect this graph in the following thread. 1/11

Expanding on my point about mass outreach, it's important to recognize the concept of redundancy. Whose doors were we knocking, and why were we knocking them? Were we boosting numbers by knocking on doors of folks who were already turning out for Harris? Why would we expect this to be effective?

In today's bite-sized media environment, presidential campaigns can't depend on people to read anything in depth. Kamala Harris's website was so wordy that nothing was broken down. There was nowhere I could go to find the "top 5 platform positions" in bullet point format. Everything was long-winded.

Mass outreach is not what wins elections. "Doors knocked," "calls made," "volunteers recruited," these are the wrong metrics. We cannot assume that each interaction with a potential voter or volunteer brings us closer to the goal of winning. The nature of those interactions is key.

I am from Pennsylvania, the state that often swings national elections. I had an up close view of both presidential campaigns this year. It is my opinion that the Kamala Harris campaign embraced "quantity over quality" in both field strategy and messaging. I will expand on this in future posts.

I realized it's been so long since I've made a first post on a new personal social media account that I felt paralyzed by making this post (I have gone out of my way to avoid TikTok). I think this says something about the long-held monopolies of older social media companies. Here's to new starts.
