We develop our sense of self IN relationship to our relationships.

Key takeaway: You can't teach empathy through lectures. You teach it by GIVING it. When a kid acts out, ask "What tools are they missing?" not "What's wrong with them?"

Also learned: Confidence = "I am worthy." Arrogance = "I'm more worthy than you."

These teachers also excel at linking daily work to essential standards and helping kids see how learning makes them better humans.

When we design classrooms that exclude bodies, we're not creating better learning environments—we're creating impossible ones.

The transformation starts when we stop asking "how do we make kids sit still" and start asking "how do we make space for whole humans to learn?"

Actors don't memorize lines sitting still. They use "blocking" - movement paired with dialogue.

These physical movements create "memory tags" that anchor information in our brains.

That child bouncing their leg during math? Their brain is engaged.

The kid who needs to pace while reading? They're processing.

Movement isn't the enemy of focus. It's the catalyst for it.
