If I wasn’t already planning on reading this, NYT labeling it “sad Irish millennial fiction” would have convinced me. Strangely that sounds incredible to me lol

First five star read for the year ✅
As a long time fan of Kazuo Ishiguro, I finally read Never Let Me Go, which was incredible. Like The Remains of the Day mixed with My Brilliant Friend by Elena Ferrante. Also highly recommend Ishiguro’s nobel lecture if you haven’t seen it!

First book of the year ✅
Finished This Is How You Lose The Time War by Amal El-Mohtar & Max Gladstone. It’s about two rival agents in a war who begin to communicate and it quickly escalates to more. Super fresh and conceptual, but a little too abstract and left me confused at times 3.75/5 💙📚

Read a Brandon Sanderson novel ✅

I’ve kind of been in a fantasy phase lately, and naturally, in came the Brandon Sanderson recommendations. I just finished Tress of the Emerald Sea, which is the perfect read-in-bed-under-the-covers-on-a-gloomy-day book. ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 💙📚

I just finished Pride and Prejudice for the first time and had one of those moments when you realize that this is why the classics are the classics. It’s a little hard to read, but it’s timeless and how can you not fall in love with Mr. Darcy? At the end of the day, I am just a girl.

What’s your favorite cozy read?

It’s the holiday season, which to me, means it’s time for some cozy reads. Swap your picks with me!
My pick is a classic, Little Women by Louisa May Alcott. It reminds me times I had growing up with my sister - playing, fighting, and supporting one another.

Every year there are a few books that really surprise me. I came into Dune with many preconceived notions, it’s long and I heard some negative reviews. But I absolutely loved the movies, so after procrastinating, I finally read it. The big surprise? It is even better than the movies. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Not just because it was originally intended to be part of an art exhibit, but The Employees by Olga Ravn is modern art meets writing. Really weird yet fresh structure (a series of HR statements on a spaceship) that somehow comes together to question what it means to be human. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ #BookSky 💙📚 🪐📚
