My point about uniquely defining is that punk and ska genres existed before GenX became teens. Grunge is unique to the generation but no doubt it was influenced by punk.

Being the signature sound doesn’t mean everyone liked it. I knew Boomers who hated The Beatles. But Grunge came on the music scene like a storm and is a defining genre unique to the GenX Era.

Love this. I find being a naturally curious person both a blessing and a curse. I am often accused of being negative because I ask a lot of questions that cut to the core of things and also zoom out. It could also be a style problem but I’ve worked on that over the years.
