I assume you’ve seen 2012’s The Thieves. It’s a whole lot of fun.

You’ve taken control of aspects of your life you may have once thought were impossible for you to control.

Grassley’s position, then, seems to be that the President of El Salvador has more power and influence than the POTUS.

It’s marzipan.

And “led” instead of “lead” as the past tense of “lead.”

Yeah, because I don’t think we’re on the same page. To me, denial isn’t “I didn’t get something I wanted.” It’s, “Someone actively decided I couldn’t have it.” Nobody did that on this case. You can’t conscript people to run for office, so no primary was had. Can we be done now?
March 2, 2025 at 12:57 AM
My point was that nobody denied anyone a primary. It’s just that nobody else chose to run. It’s a subtle but significant difference. It’s just how things played out. We weren’t owed a new primary three months before the election. There’s no one to blame here.

Yes, the official primary. But I’m not convinced that’s what we’re talking about. I believe the poster I’m responding to was suggesting there should have been a primary to pick a candidate after Biden stepped down.
March 1, 2025 at 11:38 PM
That doesn’t mean you were denied a choice. I didn’t vote for Biden in the 2020 primary either. But I was happy with most if his work as President and I didn’t grumble when other candidates chose to bow out in 2024. I fought for Harris because she was our best option.

You’re not accurately recalling how it went. Biden stepped aside, maybe too late, endorsed his sitting VP. Primaries were more than allowed. Anyone could have declared. Other Democratic candidates chose not to run, also supporting the sitting VP. You only *feel* like you were denied a choice.

This is what works for me. Worth a try. When they’re taking your BP: Eyes closed. Palms up. Feet flat on the floor. Sit up straight. Slow, deep breaths. Think about the space between inhales and exhales. OC, if they prescribe meds, take them. But every time, do what I described and see if it helps.

Sure. Whatever.

Oh, but Stein is definitely not the answer. It needs to be someone who shows up all the time, not just when the top job has an opening.

And I think that’s great. It’s just, at some point, I feel the people need to take action, get involved, and internalize the reality that voting alone is the bare minimum of civic engagement. I hear it here all the time, “We want a better choice.” Well, find that person and boost them.
