While I don't actually think Poilievre's seat is at risk, it is pretty funny that his riding has the highest number of early votes across the country...

Poilievre's riding tops early voting numbers
The tally comes amidst speculation that Poilievre, who has held the riding for two decades, may be in a tight race to be re-elected Monday.

This would be a very welcome development if it were to go through "..internal draft government documents ... proposing to transform or eliminate all permits issued at the provincial and municipal levels within a year."

This is an interesting development... Quebec has historically been dead against any pipeline development in Canada so Trump may be changing the political calculus in Canada pretty significantly
Quebec open to LNG, oil projects after Trump threats
Quebec has long resisted proposals to build new oil and gas pipelines, but Donald Trump's threats might change that. Find out more.

Interesting data on inflation from the OECD. The Canadian inflation picture looks fairly good (with the exception of Food, which is elevated in virtually all regions).

Interesting to note that Canadian inflation is even lower than Japan!

Earlier, I shared my insights on the Pepperdine Capital Markets Report for 2023. Another report that I find quite useful for deal-related information is the SRS Acquiom Deal Terms Study. It focuses on the legal and structural components of deals.

🧵on valuation. In the middle-market, valuation (enterprise value) is most commonly determined by applying a multiple to a company's historical (TTM) Normalized EBITDA. You generated $5M in EBITDA last year in an industry where multiples are typically 5x? Your business is probably worth ~$25M. (1/10)

I had a chance to review the Pepperdine University Private Capital Markets Report - 2023 (bit.ly/3JMsfPA). Although this report is focused on the US market, many of the findings are consistent with what we are seeing in Canada.

Some findings I thought were interesting: 📊
