Penalties! A game that Spain were in control of, England fought their way back into, and ultimately one that turned into a slog. Sort of unsatisfying for a final to end this way imo, but here we are. Spain’s first of the tournament, while England beat Sweden this way

Basel is soaked. Absolutely hammering down here. Could that blunt some of Spain’s pace and slick passing? England will take any advantage they can get against a side that hasn’t conceded in the knockouts yet

The miracle of Basel! Germany are through! Played well over 100 minutes with 10 players and made it through on penalties. A word for Sjoeke Nüsken, who missed a penalty in normal time and then scored what ended up being the winner in the shootout. And AKB of course!

When Spain played Switzerland in the first knockout round of the last World Cup, it was 4-1 by this stage. Bit more sedate tonight. Spain have missed a penalty and hit the post, while Switzerland have battled without seeing much of the ball
