💥12 months ago Britain's last coal-fired power station, Ratcliffe-on-Soar in Nottinghamshire, shut down after 50 years powering the national grid. We can now confirm that C20's listing application for Ratcliffe's 8 cooling towers has been rejected by DCMS, while their demolition has been approved.

NEWS: C20 is backing a campaign to save a pioneering 1980s Black community centre in London from redevelopment, and has supported a listing application. Bridge Park is a key example of the community architecture movement and adaptive reuse of industrial heritage.

Cosmic Wigwam: Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral has been upgraded to Grade I listed status, following support from C20 Society. Designed by Sir Frederick Gibberd and built 1962-67, the modernist cathedral is a great vessel of post-war glass, sculpture and design.

Glasgow Central Mosque has been listed at Category A following a public consultation and support from C20. Designed by architects W.M. Copeland & Assoc. (1977-84), the Postmodern building is the first and largest purpose-built mosque in Scotland.

Did you know, Crystal Palace Park hosted the F.A. Cup Final 21 times between 1895 and 1914, with crowds often over 100,000.

NEWS | It's Coming Home: Following a C20 appeal, a Future Systems classroom pod in Richmond has been saved from demolition by the Kaplický Foundation.
It is now set to be restored and become the first posthumous Jan Kaplický building in his native Czech Republic.

NEWS: The former Debenhams building in Bristol has been transformed into 'Shredenhams' - a new pop-up skatepark in the empty retail spaces.
In 2024 consent was given for demolition, despite strong objections from C20 and Historic England. Could it still be saved? 🛹

A remarkable 1936 sculptural frieze by Isamu Noguchi, his first public commission, on the fate of the worker amid rapid industrialisation and the global rise of fascism.

It covers a 72ft wall in a rather forgotten upstairs space at the Abelardo Rodríguez Market in Mexico City.

The stunning Morisco (or Moorish) Kiosk.

Created as Mexico’s pavilion for the 1884 World’s Fair in New Orleans, it moved to Chicago and on to the 1902 St Louis Exposition, before finding a permanent home at Santa Maria la Ribera in Mexico City. It was declared a National Artistic Monument in 1972.
