10 years of noble rot - haven’t been back to the OG in a while and a Thursday afternoon off work gave me a good excuse, especially with the extra special chalkboard menu on this week! Decided to go with a glass of champagne 👀

This was the end.. not sure how I made it this far 😂

Been a while since I’ve been to liu xiaomian - ordered the spicy pork trotter noodles ‘hot’ - these felt almost nuclear but couldn’t complain!

A quite spectacular lineup last night of Italian wines - soldera 2006, G rinaldi 2016, giovanni rosso’s 2011 ester canale, roagna barbaresco gallina 2015 and sassicaia 2006
Would be fortunate to try just one of these bottles in an evening 😍

Finally made it to Hunan last night for an excellent paulée with A&B Vintners and their champagne producers. Endless delicious food including the lobster noodles, great wines including some enormous bottles of pycm 1er meursault, nobody left hungry or thirsty!

Good job I’m hungry 😀 can’t recommend a rice cooker enough, use mine at least once per day!

Managed to get few pics from yesterdays bbq as I was rushing around catering for 35 people but here’s some excellent desserts supplied by coffee legend Roosa, who did an excellent job of carving up an ex dairy fore rib after I finished it on the grill!

Another excellent lunch at cornus with some great wines and company to celebrate my birthday! Food really is great value here, service is great and some of the best desserts around!

70 brioche buns ready for tomorrow and I kicked off cooking v early with this ex dairy brisket point and short ribs! Will hold them overnight in the oven and rest before serving tomorrow

This is what the dough looks like after mixing - needs an overnight rest in the fridge so that it can be shaped

It’s that time of year again.. brioche bun time!

As far as I’m concerned I’m still on holiday so I wasn’t entertaining the idea of cooking so went out to a nearby izakaya.. it’s not as good as it was a few months back but the set bento box is good value

Last day of the trip tomorrow before I return to the uk 😔

Not far from there at the moment! Was originally planning to say there but couldn’t get in. Went to Chambord today, absolute unit

The start of an incredible dinner at maison troisgros

A few hours in Lyon - a lot of walking, two of the best pastries I’ve had in my life at boulangerie Saint Paul and a quick visit to some other hotspots

One last ride up ventoux before leaving for Lyon - beat my pb from 9 years ago but it was still less painful than the drive up the A7
July 24, 2025 at 2:31 PM
Went to ventoux, drank some great wine and beer, solid day out!
July 22, 2025 at 4:56 PM
Pretty decent views for today’s ride!

Cycled 35km to lunch to a restaurant in Sault with an incredibly well priced wine list.. we didn’t pre order the rayas but allowed us to have it after we explained we wanted to bring it back and save most for tomorrow
July 20, 2025 at 3:24 PM
After a ride up ventoux a visit to domaine Justine vigne, who has a v good dog and some excellent wines made from well looked after vines

Balancing out the trip with a quick jaunt up a hill

Still on my Chablis thing at wine not. Raveneau 1992 MdT was incredible, could age another 20 years. Unfortunately the Rousseau Chambertin was just for tap water
