I just made this in about an hour using Gen AI.

I don’t think I’m any threat to proper film and animation peeps, but this was fun.

I also don’t feel like making a movie any time soon though, it took several ‘takes’ to get any type of continuity 😂

Cyclone Alfred due to cross to land tomorrow morning at Redcliffe, which we’re inland from.

700mm or more of rain over the next few days.

But its impact will be very wide, especially its potential to cause flooding.

Stay safe Qld and northern NSW.

It’s going to be a rough night.

@drserenalove.bsky.social hello! My 13 y.o. son just inherited a scarab from my Dad for his birthday. We know family bought it in 1910 in Egypt. Dad’s sure it’s authentic.

We live in Brisbane. Just wondering how we might get an opinion? Could send photos somewhere as a starting point perhaps?

🙏

There’s a new social network that blends social with money… it’s what Elon wants to do with X but it’s on a blockchain, so not owned by a single billionaire.

The gates just opened and if you still have a lot of followers back on X you might get paid to join.

#Focus

SEO Tip: don’t fall into the trap of thinking Google is more advanced than it is.

Putting your keywords into the title and page headings is still one of the most powerful things you can do.

- Yes, even now in the age of NLP and LLMs.

- Yes, even with EEAT and HCU.

- Yes, even though it’s simple.

LLMs are now everyone’s search assistant.

First answers are largely via Gen AI.

But when users click to a site from an AI answer, they don’t want more AI.

They want expert human content.

So websites serious about SEO and branding must therefore double down on being both expert and human.

X really only has two or three topics at the moment, all centred around Elon, along with engagement bait posts.

The data team must be realising that it’s boring and people are not engaging like they used to.

Dwell time must be down overall, but probably up for the cool-aide drinking cohort.

I joined Bluesky when it launched and went quiet when it went quiet.

Interesting to see social further dividing up into groups by platform now.

Not sure it’s a great thing, but perhaps needed for the moment.

I hope the next trend is to realise that alternative viewpoints are not always attacks.

1,000 years before Stonehenge and the Pyramids of Egypt… there was Pentre Ifan.

Located in Wales, this is the third oldest man-made structure in the UK, dating back 5,500 years to 3,500 BC.

What did they feel after building something almost unseen in these isles?

This year I’ve taken in an insane amount of things.

But I knew they were all ‘mine’.

Do you ever get that? A sense that an opportunity is yours somehow when it comes along?

Anyway, they’ve all paid off one way or another.

But next year… I think ‘my’ opportunity will be to focus more on less.

Know your ‘why’ and stick with it as long as it remains good, no matter what everyone else does.

Qld mornings at 8 degrees? No central heating? I think I’d rather face sub zero in the UK.

So what’s the BHAG for BlueSky?

Demonstrating a social graph that’s owned by the users, with frictionless onboarding?

Anything beyond that?

I know it’s considered wise to let underperforming new hires go early… but sometimes it’s even wiser to rally behind them as a team, improving processes and training to reflect their needs, therefore strengthening the whole unit.

Sometimes the team wins in the success of a single member.

Today marks two years of decentralised social for me over at DeSo.

At Charles’ coronation, they will say this for the first time:

“All who so desire, in the Abbey, and elsewhere, say together: I swear that I will pay true allegiance to Your Majesty, and to your heirs and successors according to law. So help me God.”

So, is Bluesky on a protocol that can be analysed by anyone, should they wish?

Could a University team access the raw feed to review bot behaviour, for instance?

Because the lack of that is a major issue with closed, traditional social.

Everything happens in darkness.

Personal AI agents are going to change everything.

Introduction of the Smartphone on steroids and having drunk 20 cans of red bull.

I like Bluesky so far.

But having spent two years on DeSo, I miss the lack of money being native to the social experience.

Anyway, very happy to meet all you fine people.

I think perhaps I’ll take the best of both worlds, I’m definitely not leaving DeSo.

I value the space between views, the ground between hills and the humility between knowing and knowing more, where discussion, progress and togetherness live.
