I personally have not encountered ferrets boldly and openly climbing up to the chickens during the day. If the chickens were always guarded by a cat, a significant part of the problem would be eliminated.

Remembering my small experience of living in the village, I don't remember ferrets hunting small or large chickens during the day - ferrets did everything at night, and unfortunately, no cat neutralized a ferret.

When I was a child and young adult, spending every summer on holidays in the countryside, I knew that ferrets would get into chicken coops at night, but not during the day. It's a shame that in those cases the cats didn't protect the chickens like in this video...

As a child, teenager, and adult, I spent my holidays in the countryside and knew about the damage ferrets and martens can do to poultry. Kudos to the cat for catching the ferret!!!
