The sandeel plays an important role in the marine ecosystem as a key species in the food chain. Now research shows that sandeels are picky about the sandy bottom where they burrow – and this makes them vulnerable to potential changes to their habitats, which are sand and gravel banks.

We usually think of photosynthetic bacteria as the main N2 fixers in the world's oceans . Using a mechanistic model we estimate that heterotrophic bacteria are responsible for 10% of the global N2 fixation. And it also occurs temperate waters. www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...

HaV lukker fiskeriet efter stenbider (aka sjurygg) i alle svenske farvande fra 15. marts of frem.

Our PhD just published a cool paper on predator-prey interactions where two species of smaller benthic #sharks their predators. The smaller sharks freeze in the presence of a #predator ( #shark or #seal) 🦈
