Retired botanist, crop geneticist & bioinformatician. Whiling away my declining years with gardening, family history, traditional Scottish music and an interest in seeing the Scottish landscape restored to something approaching a more natural ecosystem.
However I’m less worried about identifying the artist than I am about the quality of the picture. Value should relate to this rather than who painted it. The obsession with high value artists seems about artificially boosting market value and supporting speculation.

Key factors are a) at least the “expert” can be challenged to set out in detail the evidence that they have used and the detailed interpretation they have derived. b) AI models require quite large & accurate data sets for development. c) Most people fail to do robust model evaluation tests.

My botany’s degrees have taken me boating up creeks in Sumatra , to the top of pyramids in Mexico, kayaking in the Bay of Fundy and walking in the Andes.

I’ve found that saying you prefer Chilean Pisco Sours is a great way to piss off Peruvians. However the best Pisco I’ve ever drunk was Peruvian. Incidentally the most dirty disgusting distillery I’ve ever visited was in Pisco.
