No kids, but know they need rentals. I remember when mortgage rates were 10-16% (1980s) - no chance for regular folks to afford a home. Affordable rentals take the pressure off - people can choose to stay in rental which forces housing prices down with lower demand.

Petroleum is traded like a commodity and the buyers and sellers (rightly or wrongly) respond to international events. I'm sure big oil companies manipulate the prices as well. If a cargo ship is attacked by Houthi rebels, the gas at our local gas station goes up!

If it's books in school, I say let the librarian/teacher decide - most parents don't read the stuff students are taught; and fewer of them would understand it (unless they were English Lit majors). Teacher and school board experts are there to make the call on what is age appropriate.
