He only brought out what was always there in some people. He took advantage of the fundamental flaws and failures in the system that we already had. The divisions were always with us. We never dealt with the systemic problems. GOP, this their dream since 1960. If not trump, would have been another.

I wonder how many millions, including those who might find this abhorrent and those who sat out the '24 vote, will look away and celebrate July 4 and watch fireworks as if well, it can't be THAT bad just yet. Lots of people ostriching these days. This July 4 should be a wake, not a party. 💔

Watch Hegseth with the sound shut off. This one especially but any video of Hegseth will do. Without the sound, the madness is . . . epic.
They're all nuts. All of them, billionaire buddies included. They are all Caligulas. Caligulae.

I hate that people are so disinterested. On the other hand, I'm glad they are. Just as well, stay away from the critters, stop running stupid mud vehicles all over the woods and beaches, just leave nature alone since they don't care and don't respect it anyway. Best for the gulls it was just you.

These are the days.
Never should have happened, but somewhere near half our own citizens wanted it and still do want it.
Every day tragic, now.

Do what is best for you.
Millions and millions of us out here are sensing that this is it, that the great experiment failed, that the country will never be what it ought to have been. It's more than trump. It's the very deep flaws which made and allowed a trump.
I would go if I could.

This is living. How many are fully living life anymore. Fully engaged, fully in the moment, allowing no distraction. We've lost that, to our eternal cost.

Phones have wrecked a lot. They are antisocial, and anti-intellectualism. They remove people from the people actually in their presence. They diminish intellectual pursuit. They're a scourge, really, and the social price is higher than many care to imagine.
June 27, 2025 at 10:39 PM
Nor do I, but this country has always had strong strains of anti-intellectualism. Always.

I fight for the flowers. Native plants, pollinators. Sometimes I even get time to sit with them, our dear friends. I'm glad you did too. Do it as often as you possibly can. 💐

It's meaningless. Anyone can be nominated for it by anyone. Those prizes have been deeply diminished by the winners they choose, excepting within the Sciences.

Ditto.

I'm in a blue state, and nearly everyone we come across in life, ditto for them. Disgust, sadness, despair. No one feels at all "normal" anymore.
June 27, 2025 at 10:15 PM
Well, it's the Blitzkrieg, right? Bombard and overwhelm us with so much disastrous frightening stuff our brains are full and we forget about Miller, the DOGE critters, the imminent destruction of our national forests and national lands, climate change . . . plus MSM is obstructive/useless . . .
June 27, 2025 at 10:13 PM
I wouldn't go that far. But I get ya. GOP, this has been a long game since 1960. Nixon Reagan Bushes, all part of the strand, all part of the plan. GOP always wanted a Trump to tip things over the line, just took a while to get one.

Beat me to it. Yes, Andrew Jackson.

Warren G. Harding, total dolt, and corrupt. Not as dangerous as Cheetolini though.

We've had some serious turkeys in the White House, none as bad as now obviously.

Excellent mention! Anyone who hasn't seen this series, run do not walk.

It should always be seen, it's brilliant, but yes now is the urgent time.

We shall see. Many dashed hopes from Texas over the years, Ann Richards the last days of glory, and your current Governor should be in an insane asylum. I hope you're right, will believe when I see.
June 27, 2025 at 9:44 PM
Exactly.

p.s. I love "you shitkicking crackerfuck". Love this very very much. 👍
June 27, 2025 at 9:40 PM
Yes indeed. Blue states support red, via the massive taxes they pay into the national kitty. Red states hate us for it, but they never say No to it. They always take the money. Trump & Co., out to destroy the blue states, sheer spite. Unhappy days then, for the red, if their boys succeed.

I'm a lifelong farmer. You guys know what tubers are, right? The roots of potatoes, daylilies, lots of plants. Tommy Tuberville. Tommy Potatohead. Fully literally translated, Tommy PotatoTown. He's an insult to potatoes, an insult to humanity.

What's odd, though, is that removing the vote is part of Project 2025, but it's not in place yet. I remain skeptical that we'll have midterms or beyond. I think big hammers are yet to fall before midterms. I do hope I'm wrong.

"Isn't that the goal of the Federalist Society?"

Yes.

GOP has been working toward all this since 1960. Took 'em all this time but they finally got their wet dream.
