This story is a bit ridiculous. The only people who could seriously answer questions about the extent of inquiry into Mandelson’s relationship with Epstein would be those carrying out the vetting. Give the deeply personal nature of vetting, this is something they would never answer

Unpopular view with many, but a right back is far more likely than left back if Mykolenko agrees a new contract. Personally I don’t think he’s half as bad a some would suggest, and actually upgrading would be expensive and difficult

If anything summed up the state of politics, and the malign influence of social media, it’s this thread. The representation of people as either pure good, or pure evil, simply on the basis of proximity to our own views, is itself as dangerous as it is stupid.

Interestingly I think that was the line of his spokesman, whereas Starmer himself spoke about Jenrick’s sowing of division. New (new?) Labour’s problem is still that it thinks more about the sound of the message than the real message
