Seems like it when everyone on defense just stands there and watches opposing players run through giant (haha) holes. I thought it was a fundamental part of football to know how to tackle, just generally.

I just hope the Mets don’t use the other piece of it as justification to waste $11 million dollars or so on Starling Marte in 2026. I think McNeil was headed out no matter what, but this furthers the case to package him and send him elsewhere, hopefully for a pitcher of some kind.

Agreed- I still think Baty is the most likely of the group to stay and it improves his chances a bit since they probably won’t go after Bichette or Bregman now. More likely a big name/big bat OF. Also I think McNeil is still likely to be on the move instead of a younger player.

Got a coffee flavor for you this morning Charley! Sugar and spice coffee with a hint of cookie butter creamer- like a warm cinnamon hug ☕️ bring on the ridiculous hot stove rumors!

Kwan is one of the more sensible targets. Still makes us a lefty-heavy lineup, but overall creates less problems than he solves. So much talk around big names right now that require rearranging our whole infield/outfield 🙄 sounds like he will work something out with the Guardians eventually though.

Real problem if it impacts his trade value also. He was a good piece to package despite the meh offense, a nice bonus for any team at the right price.

I get the whole “we need a top of the rotation guy” and run prevention etc., but this also feels a lot like “we NEED Scherzer and Verlander” and I’m still pretty bitter about how that all turned out for the Mets. Although Skubal is younger, he has still had TJ and the flexor tendon issue.

Maybe it doesn’t change much for Pete’s value, he has fairly average SO/Whiff numbers, but I was thinking more like a Suarez where the power also comes with a high SO/Whiff rate.
November 18, 2025 at 12:21 AM
That’s fair lol! There are definitely metrics out there now that are useful. I was just thinking whether with potential increase in some stats for lower power/high average hitters it might change the business calculation for teams.
Naylor deal feels a little bit like that.

Same, “hide post for me” might be the best thing about this platform. Ridiculous Skubal trade proposal? Insane amount of money for a FA? Hide post 🙈

God forbid we improve our defense by potentially having some consistency at 3rd and 2nd and not shuffling the infield yet again to address problems we don’t have in order to avoid ones we do (defense at first). This is why I’m opposed to bringing on Bregman in addition to money/age.
November 10, 2025 at 8:49 PM
FWIW I don’t love the idea of Schwarber either, but I just dislike adding more defense at the opposite corner because of power/off reasons; when we really need a stronger defense at first. It just feels counterintuitive, but I get it’s hard to solve for both in one player.

I just don’t think it’s makes sense. Likely won’t continue to stay healthy as he ages. I would rather take my chances with Murakami or Okamoto. Or go get a DH and get a real defensive upgrade at first, and address the area they actually want to improve.
November 6, 2025 at 6:58 PM
Baty posted the same number of HRs as Bregman did this year in less plate appearances. At that point just give the money to Pete because either way we are overpaying for offensive production from two aging players who are on the decline. And Bregman isn’t a significant defensive upgrade.
November 6, 2025 at 6:30 PM
I do not get the Bregman hype at all. Both Baty and Mauricio were worth more DRS (Fielding Bible) and he was only worth slightly more in OAA (+1) than Baty. He’s one year older than Alonso and there is no guarantee he would move to 1st base. What in the world are we paying for?
November 6, 2025 at 6:01 PM
Nope, I’ll help you clean out his locker at Citi. Many Mets fans seem to overlook the fact he has not played 100 games or more in any season except 2022.
November 5, 2025 at 10:14 PM
I keep pondering if the Jays can really roll with Scherzer to start tonight even if it’s just a few innings and then I realize I just still have 2022 #Mets trauma. Hoping for the same.

THE catch-Game 7, 2006. The saying is “ya gotta believe” and I remember that moment made me believe. Endy looked 5ft above the wall in the moment, and I thought for sure it was fate that they would win that game. Sadly ‘06 ended in heartbreak ❤️‍🩹

The hamsters are probably worth more in WAR. I mean scientists have taught rats how to drive tiny cars so…🤷‍♀️

You can send me the Christmas card version! 🤣
October 24, 2025 at 7:15 PM
Mets should already be calling his agent.
October 21, 2025 at 8:20 PM
Pete’s problem is he is worth -9 outs above average at first base right now and Vlad is -1 OAA, plus Vlad is a finalist again for a second Gold Glove. If the goal is improving defense then a breakup seems inevitable, unless Pete moves to a semi-permanent DH. But if Boras tells him otherwise 🤷‍♀️
