Reception had a lovely trip to Smithills Farm this week.
We experienced so many wonderful things! We met and fed lots of different animals. We went on a tractor and had a donkey ride, amongst lots of other things.
The children’s behaviour was exceptional. Huge thank you to all our parent helpers!

The Year 5 and 6 cricket teams did Old Moat incredibly proud when they represented the school in two local tournaments. Both teams finished in second place showing amazing resilience to overcome tricky parts of their games as well as being gracious in victory and defeat. Well done!

Year 5 had a great time at Stockport Air Raid Shelters. They learned about life as an evacuee and what life would have been like for those living in big cities with the risk of being bombed.

We were proud to be recognised as an Outstanding Early Years provider at Manchester City Council’s recent awards evening. Miss Holt and Miss Lane attended the celebration on behalf of the school and we celebrated with all of our EYfS team back in school. 🎉🥳🎊

Last week we had out first visit from @dogstrust.bsky.social who talked to children across school about how to care for animals and how to be safe around dogs. They will be returning to school later this month to visit the remainder of our children 🐶🐾

On Thursday morning we were pleased to welcome Healthy Schools Manchester to talk to some of our lovely parents and carers. Parents were provided with guidance on how to reduce accidental injuries in the home.

Year 6 enjoyed a super afternoon at our Careers Fair. The children had the opportunity to speak to professionals from a range of industries including engineering, politics, higher education, medicine, architecture and construction. The children enjoyed hearing about the routes into these jobs 🧑‍🔧💼👩‍💼

On Friday the Beehive staff and pupils welcomed in all of the Parents and Carers for a Christmas craft session. Lots of fun was had and we enjoyed spending this quality time together 🎄🎅🏼👩‍🎨

Thank you to all our parents and carers who came to our stay and read. The parents/ carers had a chance to explore nursery, had training about how to read to their children, complete reading challenges and read a variety of books.

4PA visited Withington Baths where they worked as “historical detectives” to look for clues in order to learn about the baths and the history of the building. They also worked as engineers to design and build their own drainage system. 🕵️
